ABOUT US

NT Heli-Ops was established in April 2014 and is an Indigenous owned and operated company based in Katherine, Northern Territory. 

NT Heli-Ops was founded by Doug McBean, who has had over 30 years' experience in the aviation industry in Northern Australia. He has previously been chief pilot or a director of three other NT helicopter companies. Doug is a Territory local Indigenous Australian with excellent knowledge of the local geographical and climatic challenges that face the industries in these areas. He has a solid reputation and a large portfolio of established clients.


The core of pilots in our company are among the most experienced in the NT aviation industry. With a strong, positive culture at the core of our team, we deliver a professional, high-quality service always with safety at the centre of all operations.

Safety

We consider the safety of our team, clients and the general public to be our highest priority. Therefore, we go above and beyond the compulsory training schedules set out by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). We have extensive aviation related staff training sessions which incorporate flying training, emergency procedures, risk mitigation, planning and communication.


Our pilots have all relevant flying operations experience and qualifications in accordance with current legislation and our Company Operations Manual. Our team undergo regular aviation medical checks, dangerous goods handling and procedural training, and drug and alcohol screening.


Our aircraft maintenance is carried out by CASA approved qualified professionals on a strict schedule in accordance with the relevant CASA legislation and aircraft manufacturer requirements.

Company Policies and Procedures

NT Heli-Ops operates under an individual Air Operators Certificate (AOC). This requires the Company to operate strictly within the guidelines of its’ Company Operations Manual which has been developed according to the relevant legislation and certified by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). This manual covers all operating procedures including safety, maintenance, and internal auditing procedures; managerial flow charts; flight and duty time requirements; and pilot training and qualification requirements.
